OCEAN BEACH RHYL

We have a few seaside theme parks here in Wales, so we have decided to visit them this summer.

So the first park for us to visit this summer is Ocean Beach Amusement Park in Rhyl, North Wales.

The park has been around for over 45 years and always has been a main attraction to holiday makers, its your typical seaside fun park with five coasters and a few flat rides mixed with kiddie rides.

This park was a bargain, if all you wanted to do is ride the coasters, as after 7pm it is a pound a ride

The park now has 2 Pinfari coasters one looping, a Schwarzkopf runaway train coaster, a Cavazza Diego Nessie kiddie coaster and a water coaster no idea what make it was.

The first one we rode was the Pepsi Loop, it was awful. The only smooth part of the track was the loop, the rest might have well have been road works. You could move the OTSR's at least 10 inches forward and back in the locked position so big thumbs down from me on that one.

Next we went on Runaway Train this was much better to ride. A figure of 8 track running through the station at a 45 degree angle, which made the ride different to most trains I have ridden.

Ok credit whore time, Nessie was next. Sad I know but it's there to be ridden so we did, no need to say much on this one apart from wheels, track and looks like Nessie.

Jet Stream was next and it was a real surprise, great airtime on the drops and most probably the best and smoothest Pinfari I have been on with 2 good drops, a wavy section and 2 double helix turns, it made a good ride, best one at the park.

Last was Lumberjack Falls, a water coaster and classed as wood even though the framework is metal with wood cladding.

A good drop and when it hit the water it didn't slow down too much so it gave a little airtime as it went up into the brake section, AND NO WETTNESS for a change.

Overall this park isn't in the league of Blackpool or Fantasy Island in Skegness but still fun.

Jet Stream

There is plenty of air time to be had on this coaster.

Green, red and white hmmm same colour as our flag

ry9

It keeps up a good pace throughout the ride making it well worth a re ride

Can't say i liked this one it was pretty rough looking and the restraints were very loose.

ry16

Also it was very bumpy, a usual thing as it is a Pinfari, but this was quite bad.

ry17

It may have been bumpy, but it was a pound a ride so can't complain really

Lumberjack Falls

ry31

This is a pretty cool ride, lots of speed down the hill and very smooth apart from one big jolt as you came around the corner at the top.

ry33

And bonus you don't get wet.

ry32

This was the only theming we saw for any ride in the park.

Runaway Train

ry22

It was a really good ride, three times through the station but for some reason on the last lap it practically stops on this bank and it gets very uncomfortable.

ry21

One very good thing about this park is you get a great view of three coasters as you drive down the beach road

ry11

Ah Nessie the coaster whore's most common kiddie coaster.

ry12

We must have ridden 8 or 9 of these this year alone.

ry27

The Terminator

I don't think so.

ry24

Sizzler people mover, all seaside parks need one of these.

ry25

Skijump, bouncy round we go ride.

ry3

The dodgem track was a pretty good size.

ry29

This was a really nice looking waltzer, best looking ride in the park

ry5

From here on the rides just got smaller and smaller this isn't much bigger than a car port.

ry4

The ghost train entrance, the people next to it are vertically challenged..

ry1

Ok i was wrong this was quite a big slide for kiddies.

ry10

Back to the small stuff this was a pretty neat mini carousel

ry2

No great park views from this little big wheel.

ry26

Just down the promenade is a sky tower but it wasn't open.
