Here in Wales we have a free festival and fair in our capital city, which happens to be eight miles from my town.

The CARDIFF BIG WEEKEND is the climax of a fifty seven day music and arts festival

Its the UK's biggest FREE outdoor festival and Wales' largest traveling fair, which happens to be a slightly smaller version of Goose Fair in Nottingham, most of the same rides are at both fairs.

This year we had four coasters, two kiddie and a Crazy Mouse and a Toboggan coaster

The rest of the attractions are flat rides and normal side show stalls with a few kiddies rides thrown in here and there. In total there are about hundred and fifty attractions and it draws crowds up to two hundred thousand a day.

Most rides are priced around two to three pounds, but there was one ride which was totally over priced at fifteen pounds.

The fair is set in the streets, which is an area of about two city blocks and some of the rides are so well placed you just miss trees and buildings, which adds more of a thrill to most of the rides.

Each year it gets bigger and better, with attractions being added all the time and this year the fair was an alcohol free zone, but it didn’t seem to stop a few sharing their excitement on the rider next to, or in front of them.

Overall it’s very well organised and great fun.

Let's take you on a walkabout in the order the rides were placed.

The Carousel, as usual.

Hurricane, spinning bouncy disk ride, Similar to Trauma Towers in Blackpool.

Orbiter, a modern version of the old Octopus ride

Froggit, if you like bouncing this is for you

Catastrophe Canyon now playing again and again.

The first of many kiddies rides

Speed Flip, this ride keeps building up speed throughout the ride.

King Loops, spins around flat and at a 45 degree angle.

Don't know what this was called but it had lots of pretty lights.

"Jonno, put me on that ride or I will lick you to death"

Yeah Magic Mouse, at last a coaster.

There are a lot of these rides about, usually on the end of a pier in the uk

50% mouse ride, 50% waltzer., 100% fun.

By the time you get here your are quite dizzy.

And the award for best lighting in the video goes to..... Extreme.

Ghost Train, no need for Most Haunted to investigate this one.

Equinox. For me this was the coolest ride there.

It spins you 360 degrees in 3 directions.

Chaos, spinning, swinging ride, the same as Vortex in Thorpe park

This was one of the most popular rides.

This is the first of two dodgem tracks, this one had cool Formula 1 car sounds.

Thriller the ride "charmone". It's as fast as MJ's lawyer going to the bank.

Super bowl, an American football themed tilted waltzer.

Sizzler people mover.

"OMG, mum is posing again".

FreeFall drop ride, on the first night riders were held up the top for 90 seconds, it soon shortened by sunday when it was really busy.

The coolest part of this ride is what was written on it. "Gloat".

Looking back at Chaos.

Vertigo. 5 quid a ride but well worth it.

Nuff said.

This is really spectacular to ride or watch, it really moves.

Megaspin. Twirl'n' hurl ride, lots of puke action on this ride.

Rotor, these spinning wall rides have been round for years.

Crazy House, another kiddies attraction.

Rodeo was hysterical to watch. Three bulls with three riders on each one. "Let's see who stays on the longest game".

Mini Star wheel and it was mini.

Gladiator the fun house, somehow just doesn't really work.

Roller coaster, they could have thought of a better name for this.

Ghost Train number two. The scariest bit of this ride was the ride op in a werewolf mask at the end of the ride

Fantasia waltzer, this had some really cool lighting effects.

Superstar, at night they used smoke to give more effect.

Jumping Jack or Frog Hopper to you and me.

Win a prize every time, so Tina wants a Scooby in red leather.

Dodgems 2. Ultra violet lighting for these funky cars.

Dragon Coaster and this was a quick one. Nice to see it was a red as we are in Wales.

Big elastic band, small round cage.

And into the blue yonder they go

Toboggan, now this is different.

As you can see this is one crazy looking coaster. The lift goes straight up through the centre pipe.

And out the top you come.

Totally enclosed cars.

Now, change the cars slightly and it's "Postman Pat the ride".
